R600 Million allocated for infrastructure upgrades in Waltloo and surrounding areas

Category Industrial Property News

There is currently a lot of government investment in the industrial sector. Happening throughout various major industrial precincts of one of South Africa's most regarded cities Pretoria (Tshwane). This is according to numerous prominent news articles which have been published over the last few months. According to both sabcnews.com and ewn.co.za the mayor of the city, Solly Msimanga has allocated over R600 million to particular areas of commercial and industrial interest such as Rosslyn, Ekangala and Waltloo in the hope of increasing investment and creating employment.

"We have over R600 million that is put aside for Industrial Zones - which will include Babelegi - with regard to what myself and the Premier are trying to resolve. The industrial zone which is in Nkangala also has the issues which we have now finally resolved with the Mpumalanga government, and also Waltloo and including other small industrials including your Ga-Rankuwa Industrial area." -Solly Msimanga (2018) -

According to the various news sources, the funds will be spent on infrastructure upgrades around these particular areas which have been earmarked as they already play a huge role in terms of industry for the greater Tshwane and Gauteng regions. One such company that already sees certain areas throughout the Gauteng Province as being pivotal for industrial growth is API Property Group. The company has 31 listed available properties for rent in the Waltloo location which all range in price and size to suit anyone's budget. With more funds being allocated to fix infrastructure in Waltloo the leading company believes that the future is looking bright not just for Waltloo, but for the entire Pretoria industrial expanse at large.

"By investing in infrastructure and by also ensuring that by themselves will be renovated, so you can go into the international market, even the national and local markets and say we have the facilities available to do a plug-and-play. All we're asking of you is that you go into the areas and also create employment." -Solly Msimanga (2018) -https://ewn.co.za/2017/05/19/msimanga-investment-in-industrial-zones-key-for-job-creation

The implementation of these funds is also apart of a bigger plan to create much-needed employment throughout the country. According to the same news article it hopes to create an additional 23 000 jobs once completed. This is a much-needed injection as another article also published off ewn.co.za earlier this year states that unemployment has reached the 27.2 % mark in South Africa. With over a quarter of the county without work money being allocated to areas such as this is needed. Investing in industrial areas helps enable local communities to find the employment they need in order to sustain families.
