Strijdom Park - An Overlooked Commercial Gem

Category Industrial Property News

Known as one of Johannesburg's largest and more affluent business and suburban locations - Randburg booms with business and industry development all year round. We bring our focus to the small area wedged between the N1 Western Bypass and Malibongwe Drive: Strijdom Park, Randburg's most viable and fluid industrial suburbs.

Historical significance

Randburg was founded in 1959 and is located in the north west of Johannesburg. The town is the amalgamation of 32 suburbs - including Strijdom Park. The name 'Randburg' was derived from South Africa's currency, which was introduced at around the same time that the new municipality was established.

Today Randburg represents a diversity in business and inhabitants, and is slowly developing into a cosmopolitan location with its close proximity to more upmarket areas.

Access and Utility

Strijdom Park is about 25 to 30 minutes away from key land marks in Johannesburg such as the OR Tambo international Airport, the CBD and the N1 Western Bypass, making it ideally situated to support and sustain urbanism. Gaining access in and out of the area is not too difficult with a metro bus that runs from Sandton to Randburg hourly, the minivan taxi services in South Africa will get you to almost every destination in any city or town. There is also a Gautrain bus service that operates the same route. This runs from the Sandton Gautrain station.

It is also within close proximity to some well-known and well-established shopping malls in the area such as Cresta Shopping Centre and The Randridge Mall offering easy and quick access to a variety of shops.

Demographic and Industry

Strijdom Park is known for having many businesses in the automotive industry, which is a huge draw card for the suburb. Shops that support this industry offer vehicle parts, panel beating, full services, as well as many car dealers selling used and second hand cars at almost every corner of the area.

The area is also the industrial node for many small to medium sized businesses, such as butcheries, upholsterers, packaging, signage and printing companies, as well as the Geldhof Chocolates Factory Shop.

The resident demographic of Randburg tends to be more affluent than the other parts of the metropolitan, with many owning businesses in the area.

Hotspots and Economy

With lower property prices, easy transportation to the west and central Johannesburg and many options for business headquarters, Randburg is stiff competition to it's fancier neighbour, Sandton. It has also been earmarked for redevelopment in an attempt to transform the area into one of the leading financial hubs in the entire Gauteng province, as well as future plans to connect Randburg onto the Gautrain routes.

Strijdom Park offers the perfect architype for any type of business or industry. Not only does the area provide good infrastructure, but there are several industrial warehouses, retail space, workshops and secure commercial developments to suit a variety of business needs.

Strijdom Park is an up and coming district with massive potential. Contact Dion Williams today to learn more about the revamp projects and how you can get involved.
